Due to my obsession with all things strange and unusual, there are very few urban legends or local haunts that I have not heard about. But they are out there. 

Have you heard of the Water Babies of Cannon Beach?

And what do you know about The Bandage Man of Highway 101?

In the last few episodes Of the Dark Side of Lightwork, I

will offer a short series exploring some of the things from the paranormal world that piqued my curiosity and scared me deeply at the same time.

In today’s episode, I am going to share what I have learned about the Codex Gigas. Over the last 800 years, this massive book has intrigued those who have had the chance to view it in person. Superstitious warnings and supernatural tales are linked to the Codex Gigas. It is even said that one of the books past owners had developed an unhealthy obsession with it.

In today’s episode, I will be exploring what I have found out about Garnet Montana. This historical mining town is a well known destination for ghost town enthusiasts. But it is also becoming well known in the circles of those attracted to the strange and unusual. There are some articles out there that claim it is challenging to get volunteers to commit to living in Garnet for one reason; and this is due to the reports of paranormal activity.

In Part 2 of my 3 part exploration on Mel’s Hole, I am going to share what I have learned about the strange events that took place after Mel Waters went live on Coast to Coast AM on February 21, 1997.

I will also share what Red Elk, an Heyoka medicine man, knows about this strange hole. And how the his community has been aware of its existence, and other holes like it, for a long time.

In Part 1 of my 3 part exploration of Mel’s Hole, I will be sharing what I have learned about Mel Waters and his first 2 of 5 interviews with Art Bell. Mel’s Hole is said to be a bottomless pit, and is often brushed off as being an urban myth. But the mystery surround this hole, and the person to publicly expose it’s existence on Coast to Coast AM, has caused many people to take a deeper look. There are sorted tales involving this crevasse, some of which include strange animal behavior, black beams of light, and the curious case of who Mel Water’s actually was.

In today’s episode, I will be sharing what I have learned about Madame Marie Laveau. Madame Laveau has such a presence in our collective consciousness that even those who know very little about the mystical arts know her name. This exploration has taken me back into my studies on voodoo, and brought to light some of the truths about this powerful woman, and her spiritual practice, that can only be found if you dive below the surface of the head lines.

In this episode, I will be exploring the town of Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. Though Drumheller is known for the plethora of dinosaur fossils uncovered along the red deer river, this episode will be focusing on the darker side of the town. There seems to be a high occurrence of paranormal activity reported in this valley. Within the homes, businesses, and secret tunnels that are hidden beneath the original buildings that are part of this historical mining town.

There are tales of murder, hidden rooms, troubled spirits and an lurking elemental that conjures fear into the bravest of all men.

Riverview Hospital is known as one of the most haunted mental institutions in all of Canada. With a history spanning over a century, it's not surprising most believe this.

In this episode, I explore the history of Riverview and the treatment of the mentally ill in Canada back in the first 50 years of this institutions operations. I also share why I believe many people think the sprawling grounds of Riverview are haunted to this day.

In Part 2 of my 3 part exploration into Edgar Cayce’s life, I will be sharing what I have learned about the second half of Cayce’s life, the readings he offered to the public, his critics, and his lasting legacy. In his lifetime, Cayce conducted 10’s of thousands of readings, with a total 14306 documented by his stenographer Gladys Davis Turner. Though Cayce first found fame for his health and life readings, he also covered many other topics. Some of which include past lives, ancient mysteries and prophecies about the future of man kind. And some of his prophecies…. they have already come true.

In part 1 of my 2 part exploration into Edgar Cayce’s life, I will be sharing what I have learned about the early life of the American prophet and holistic healer. Known as The Sleeping Prophet and The Father of Holistic Medicine, Edgar Cayce is the most documented psychic in modern history. But, it all began when he was a child.

In Part 2 of my 2 part exploration of the Bamberg Witch trials, I will cover what went down in the torture chamber, the real reason behind the witch hunts and what Bamberg Germany looks like today.

By the year 1627, the European Witch Trials had come to their peak when the Prince Bishop of Bamberg , initiated the construction of the Malefitzhaus; the largest and most well known Prison in Germany to house those accused of witchcraft. This building became the most brutal witch prison to be erected during the ongoing witch frenzies that spread across Europe between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries. There would be tales of false accusations leading to the most horrific torture and public deaths recorded in those times outside of war. The most chilling part about this tale from the past is that the Bamberg Witch Commission was the most ruthless of them all, and almost no one was safe from being accused of being in a league with the Devil. By the time the third wave of witch trials had ended in the town of Bamberg, Germany, over 40% of the men, women and children where accused of black magic, tortured, and burned at the stake. In Part 1 of my 2 part exploration of the Bamberg Witch trials, I will cover what lead to the most horrific witch trials and executions that Europe has witness in the Holy Roman Empire of medieval Europe.

In the second part to my exploration of Aleister Crowley’s life and writings, I will be covering the years 1900 to Crowley’s death in 1947. This will take us through his creation of his own magick society, his failed relationships and what would become of the most notorious occult practitioner of the 20th century.

Aleister Crowley is one of the most documented occult practitioners in all of history. Many consider Crowley a powerful visionary and gifted magician of ceremonial and sexual magic, Others consider Aleister Crowley one of the most vile and perverse humans to walk the earth.

In part one of this two part exploration of Aleister Crowley’s life, I am going to cover the years 1875-1900. Who was Crowley before he was known as The Wickedest Man in the world? Part One will cover Crowley’s upbringing, his collage years and eventual initiation into his first occult society known as The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

Back in 1946, The Dr. Charles Camsell Indian Hospital opened up in the capitol city of Edmonton, Alberta.

Today, an empty building is all that stands. Local urban legends say the halls of the old Camsell hospital are haunted with the wandering souls of the patients the doctors and staff at Camsell were supposed to heal.

Some haunted places on this earth are created due to human intervention and crimes against humanity. Today's episode covers just such a place. I will be covering a dark time in Canada's history, and how the Camsell segregated hospital played a role in the attempted sterilization and genocide of the aboriginal cultures of the Canadian Inuk, Inuit, other First Nations Peoples.

Since I was a child, I have naturally aligned with paranormal experiences, and spirit in some form.
